Sue (and others!), if the dinner falls through, everyone will get back their deposits with the possible exception of the non-refundables that were placed out of personal funds up-front. We HAVE a commitment from the caterer and facility.  The only way the dinner will not happen is if we can't get enough people to commit. Right now, there are only about 20 people signed up.

Kevin, thanks for the info. Donna Winslow(Bialozor) messaged me the other day and said we had until September 23rd to register. With that being said, I will be waiting a few more weeks to sign up. Coming all the way from Tennessee is a big decision for my husband and I. I hope more people sign up, it would be great to see everyone.

All, to clarify refunds: the software we're using requires that an event either HAVE a refund date or be flagged as "no refunds." This applies even to free activities. This makes no sense to me but I can't change it. Anyway, the free activities' cancellation dates are now set as the event dates. I hope that does not cause further confusion.

For the dinner event for which there IS cost, registrations/payments need to be made by Sep 23. Refunds need to be requested by Sep 30. (After that, there are no refunds because we have to pay the caterer for you whether you attend or not, just like a wedding.) If the event needs to be canceled -- regardless of date -- refunds will be paid.

Please note that the only way that the event will be canceled is if not enough people sign up! Please consider signing up soon!

Also, note that the block of rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn Express are only held until Sep 6.

I've come up among the living! Sorry for "ghosting" and being unable to join the committee. It's been a difficult year health wise but things are looking up.I.so appreciate all of you who have worked so hard for this reunion. As someone who has planned large functions, I'm very aware of the difficulty!.

I can contact Bonnie Haxton Wood about the reunion. Her sister goes to my church so once I realized the connection I asked for her contact information. Her sister said that she doubts Bonnie will attend due to her health but I'll let you know what I find out. I know the whereabouts of a couple other people but read that they've been contacted by others already.

I'm looking forward to catching up. See you soon! Barb

Barb, if you have contact with ANYONE else, please push the reunion. Even if they have been contacted before, your nudge may be the one that gets them motivated. And tell Bonnie that we're ALL falling apart! It would be nice to see her.

how can we see total numbers signed up for each event?

09/05/23 07:45 PM #204

Keith Gilligan

I've seen Ralph Ball many times and told him about the reunion . I just don't think He's interested

To partially answer Sherry's question, look at the Classmates & Friends tab. In the list at the bottom, anyone with a white-on-black "person" icon (like the one in the green box) next to their name is registered for an event. At the top of that page (shown here), you can filter the whole list to just show people registered for a given event. Note that these counts are just the "classmates and friends" listed; a number of people are bringing guests and the counts do not include them.

Cruise Information that wouldn't fit in the 50th Reunion tab - cruise is a one hour trip - 3 miles - on the paddleboat, Minnie Ha Ha. There is currently an ample number of available seats. Parking is near the entrance - 57 Beach Road (however the 10:00 trip will not arrive back until 11:00 so plan time to find a spot and then get to the boat). Also seating can not be reserved so if you want seats by specific people, take that into account.

Hi Kevin, I signed up for football game on Friday night, but I'm not sure I'll be in town soon enough to make the game. I'm stopping at Yale University enroute to visit my granddaughter Friday for family weekend. Of course it's the same weekend as our reunion, so I'm trying to fit both in!! Hopefully, I'll be in town in time for pub gathering. What time will that be?  DonnaWB

I've been following the organizing and hard work you all are putting into this 50th year event...hats off to the Blood, Sweat, and Tears (sorry, had to put a musical reference in there from the era) that it takes to bring all this together. I've been unsure if I could make the celebration due to obligations here in the southernmost, so have not responded either way till now...unfortunately too many irons in the fire prevent me from escaping for a few days. What a nostalgic joy to watch the interactions and messages being sent back and forth, especially folks I've forgotten were part of our class!!!, (that's what 50 years will do to a memory). Except for a few exceptions I've lost touch with most of you, but am thrilled to see so many who have prospered, and are still in this great big world! Ours was a perfect era to be high schoolers....Have a great reunion and a sincere thank you for all the extraordinary recollections just hearing your names has spurred. Peace.

Hey everyone, I won't be able to attend the reunion. I received a call from my Dr saying that I need to have a few large kidney stones removed. He wants to get them taken care of asap. So my surgery is scheduled for October 3rd. Recovery is about a week, so unfortunately I won't be able to travel from Tennessee to New York. I hope you all have a fabulous time.

Greetings from Texas to my fellow "Class of '73" South High classmates!  I hope that my note finds you all well and thriving.  I am disappointed to write that I will not be attending our 50th Class Reunion.  The multiple activities sound amazing and I thank all of you who have worked so hard pulling everything together.  You know, this event is actually quite profound for us as we look back half-a-century on a slice of time spent together in a small place on this planet that we all shared during our formative years.  It was generally a wholesome and innocent time in America that I hope you all cherish (reminds me of a 1966 song) as I do.  Enjoy our celebration that no one can share with us; it was our time and place.  Warm hugs to each of you and … keep charging forward, Bulldogs!

What time is the Friday night at Common Roots event?  We will probably be late getting there so we are also wondering how long it will last.  Thanks!

09/24/23 07:45 AM #216

Daniel Cottrell

Common Roots get together is scheduled for Friday night , beginning about 4 and continuing until about 6:30 pm. People can then go to the home football game @7pm  v Queensbury if they choose. When at CR you can let me know if you are interested in attending the game and I will create a "pass list" so admission will be free. Those wishing to stay at CR are more than welcome to do so. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
