The reason this is not coming together in an organized manner is we have no committee. People are trying to do what they are able to do and many of us do want to get together but without some type of leader and group, it will be a bit difficult. That being said, I think we have some great ideas and I think it can be done! However I think time is not on our side. The first hotel I tried (Fairfield Inn by Marriot) is already overbooked that weekend. I will continue calling until I have a block of 10 rooms but people might be wise if they do plan on attending (Oct 6-8) to make hotel reservations now which can always be cancelled. I'll speak for Kevin (who is working today) to see if we can set a date soon to have a meeting to collect all the information we have and establish a calendar of events. It should be in the Event area at the left side blue column so please keep checking. This may not turn out to be the fanciest reunion but it should be fun to get together again. Hey we're going to do this!!

OK Just heard from the Landmark which is fairly close and had decent comments. King one person is $85 and 2 people are $99. I have 15 rooms held until 30 days before (September 6) under my name. The hold will go off then. If you would like one of the rooms contact THEM directly @ 518 793-3441. I have the rooms for October 6, 7, and 8 (in case you want to stay through Sunday so if you'd like to cruise then and leave Monday, you can. Jist let the hotel know. If people would like something more upscale, I  am talking to the Queensbury in Glens Falls and will put in a message when I hear back from their person in charge. Comments/other suggestions?

Hi Vanessa, Thank you for all the work on reserving blocks of rooms!! If I can't stay with family, I usually stay at the Queensbury Holiday Inn Express right off I-87 Exit 18.  Fairly new, great amenities. Close to everything. Just a suggestion for those who will need lodging that weekend. DonnaWB

Checking Donna Winslow's suggestion of Holiday Inn Express and they (along with others affiliated with them off exit 18) should have bids to me by noon Friday.

It's been a month since Connie posted some suggestions and asked us to vote - so here's mine. Friday evening meet at Common Roots for an informal evening. People commented positively on Humbugs from our 40th. Dann Cottrell has been a liaison for this. Shari has been talking with the Superintendent about a school tour - that could be Saturday late morning or early afternoon?? The main event would be Saturday and (I hope I have this correct) Connie has offered to coordinate at the Community Center (which I'm sure will be a lot of work and Kevin & I greatly appreciate it). Natalie has offered to decorate. Kevin (Costello) is still finalizing information for the boat trip on Lake George which also had a good review at our last reunion. People can also send private messages to friends to arrange additional get togethers. Biggest thing I think we need a volunteer for is entertainment for Saturday. We have no committee and no budget so anybody who wants to get some ideas together (DJ??karaoke?? MC??) I would be willing to get some ice breaker games together.  107 days to go so speak now :)

Vanessa,  thanks for the summary of what we have so far.  Sounds like we should have some options for lodging soon. ( Thanks for doing that)   I think an informal gathering Friday evening sounds perfect.  A tour of the school would be good Saturday morning.  Perhaps those that wanted to could get together for lunch.  Hopefully we can do the boat ride in the afternoon, then have dinner that evening.   Does anyone have an idea of some places we could do a breakfast or brunch Sunday morning?      I will connect with Connie about dinner and decorations.

I talked with Mary Robillard Alheim today
Let her know about the class reunion. She said she would check out the web site

I agreed to take responsibility for scheduling the school tour for our reunion weekend. The current superintendent will be doing the tour for us, as the current HS principal is leaving their position at the close of this school year. The tour takes about an hour. She has available & & holding 10/6 Fri 5:30-6:30, 10/7 Sat 10-11 and 11-12. I thought once the other plans have been decided, we would know how the tour day & times fit.

Do I have this right?      Kevin will do name tags;   Vanessa is working on blocks of rooms;   Sherry is working on the school tour;  Kevin Costello is working on the cruise;    Dan C.  is working on Humbug's ( Friday evening?);  Connie is coordinating the dinner Saturday evening,  Natalie is going to work on decorations for the dinner;   Cheryl, Craig, and Keith are working on locating more of our classmates                                                   Things we still might need:    Check in tables;   Music or entertainment for Saturday evening dinner;   Set-up and clean-up for the dinner;  someone to coordinate the fees for the cruise and dinner                                            Can you think of anything else?

Hi guys, I can help set up and clean up after dinner. I think a Saturday morning school tour would be best, then class could maybe go to lunch somewhere. The Ambrosia Diner at exit 19 is large and has lots of food choices. I called them today. They have a back room that seats 60. If at least 30 people go, there is no charge for room. We can order off menu individually. They asked us to call and reserve date ASAP. They also have extra seating in front of restaurant to accommodate more class members. Just another idea.

As part of our reunion memory weekend, my husband &  I could offer to pay for a DJ that would primarily play music from our middle/high school era. If need be, I could spend the time to research the lists of hits from those years. I would  ask you all for any special requests?

Thank you Sherry!! That's very generous of you and your husband!! Please throw in some Crosby, Stills, Nash and Cat Stevens, and Neil Youg (Harvest) maybe?  Also, song from the theme of the prom, Stairway to Heaven I think is what it was. DonnaWB

Have we nailed down a venue yet for the main get-together?  I think once we have that nailed down we can go full steam ahead?  DonnaWB

Hope, thank you! I will be helping as well.       Sherry,  thanks to you and your husband.  That really is very generous!       I think if we ask enough times, we should be able to get at least 30 for lunch!  Lol

Vanessa,  weren't we looking at a Saturday afternoon cruise?   A breakfast or brunch would be Sunday morning for those that wish to.

are we still considering ideas for Saturday afternoon / evening.
I have off Saturday this weekend, I will go and check out the boat company in Lake George see if I can get any useful information. That might help everyone in deciding what they would like to do.
Myself along with several other people like the idea of a dinner dance cruise.

Thanks Sherry to you and your husband. That will add so much by turning our dinner into a dinner/dance

Wasn't the theme song John Lennon's Imagine?

The reunion ideas/plans so far can now be found in the 50th Reunion tab at left. Another meeting to nail down some details seems like a good idea. It will be Thursday, June 29, at 5pm Eastern.

There are two ways to participate: first, the Zoom address (for phones, tablets, and computers) is https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87882709672?pwd=U1FYcklBTENJOUpMVWhxNHpHZVF0Zz09 (The whole thing is needed, from https through the Zz09; if a passcode is requested, use 729906.)

Second, Vanessa feels that some people (including her!) would prefer meeting in person over meeting electronically. She has therefore reserved a private room at Uno Pizzeria & Grill (900 Lake George Rd, Queensbury, across from Walmart) for the session. She and I will be providing pizza. Ask for the "South High reunion" party.

It is NOT necessary to RSVP either option (Zoom or in-person) but it would be helpful if you would let me know if you will be attending either. IF YOU WANT INPUT ON EVENTS, THEIR TIMING, OR THEIR LOCATION, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTEND OR AT LEAST STATE YOUR OPINIONS IN THE MESSAGE FORUM *BEFORE* THE MEETING! We need to start finalizing and won't have a lot of time to continue discussions!

I will repeat this as an email.

Hi Kevin, Yes, the Prom theme song was Imagine (sorry oldtimers here!!).  The 50th Reunion information page looks great!!!! Thank you!! Things are really moving along. I will be to attend the next planning meeting via Zoom. Everyone is doing a great job finalizing plans for our big 5-0 Reunion.  Thanks everyone!! DonnaWB

Good news re a reunion planning meeting on 6/29. ( agree with Vanessa re meeting in-person, if local & possible) It's fun  to be getting music requests, keep them coming!  I am starting our 50th play list for the DJ. Speaking of DJ, does anyone know of a professional local DJ they would recommend?
